Do I need to be in a voice channel?
Yes. Join your Peaceful Waiting Room once before playing. Discord can move a connected user between rooms, but the bot cannot connect you from text chat or while you are disconnected.
Does the download connect my Discord account?
The companion detects your game locally. Automatic voice moves need an account connection configured for your PC. New-account linking is not included in this download. Contact the server owner if your waiting-room button is unavailable.
What happens when the game ends?
Participants from both teams’ session rooms move into a shared post-game room for up to two minutes, then return to their own Peaceful Waiting Rooms. You can leave early. A new detected match takes priority.
What does the companion app access?
Dota sends the app your game status through Game State Integration. With your account connection configured, the app sends your Steam ID, match ID, team, and game status to our server for voice routing. It does not record audio, capture network packets, or read game memory.
Does this change my Dota behavior score or restrictions?
No. Voice chat happens in Discord. Your Dota behavior score and in-game communication restrictions remain unchanged. UnMuteDota is an independent community project, not affiliated with Valve or Discord.
How do I uninstall it?
Close Dota Voice and delete the extracted app folder. Remove gamestate_integration_dota_voice.cfg from Dota’s game/dota/cfg/gamestate_integration folder. You can also remove the app’s settings in %LOCALAPPDATA%/UnMuteDota/DotaVoice. Your other Dota settings are left alone.
Teamwork needs a voice.
